LAST LAP DRAMA AS BOHINC CLAIMS WEEKEND DOUBLE!

Wettpunkt.com snatched a most unlikely victory when Team Sony, in sight of the chequered flag, ran out of fuel on the final lap of this exciting and drama–filled world championship event. The large crowd that had gathered on the shoreline were anticipating an Italian P1 victory and an end to Sony's four-race points drought, when the unthinkable happened!
The win for Wettpunkt.com, led by the experienced throttleman, Austrian Hannes Bohinc, with Britain's Miles Jennings and Ed Williams-Hawkes, completes a weekend double and with it the Mediterranean Grand Prix Evolution Class title. This result has significant impact in the World Championship standings with Wettpunkt.com, having trailed Sony for the whole season, now favourites to take the title having amassed a 14 point lead with just one event remaining.
OSG finished second, building upon yesterdays second place and a run of excellent form that has seen them move into the runners-up spot in the World Championship. Sony slip to third.
It was fitting that 2004 Champions and local heroes Thuraya, piloted by Adrian Panatta and Claudio Castellani, finished on the podium with a highly creditable third place. The team may lack the top-end speed to secure an outright win but the roaring twin-Lamborghini V12 engines are definitely a crowd pleaser wherever they race.
In SuperSport, the all-Italian Jolly Drive crew of throttleman Maurizio Bulleri, driver Riccardo Fatarella and navigator Andrea Bergamini completed an outstanding weekends performance with a second win, the Mediterranean Grand Prix title and now head for the Bay of Naples as Championship leaders for the first time this season. In second place and Grand Prix runners-up were ESI Chaudron, the Maltese boat piloted by brother and sister combination Aaron and Audrien Ciantar. Chaudron were well worth their second place pushing Jolly Drive all the way. Taking third place was the ever-improving Pietro Pellegrini Allufer.
British hopes Buzzi Bullett had scoured the heel of Italy following yesterdays set-back in search of suitable engine mountings to ensure that their race and championship ambitions remained intact. Unfortunately, whilst the team were able to complete the race, they could not find their usual front running speed and the hopes of clinching the world championship slipped further. They now trail Jolly Drive by four points.
Dominant for so much of the season, Buzzi Bullet and Sony now have three weeks in which to recover from their misfortunes and prepare for the ‘final showdown', taking place in Naples next month.

Wettpunkt.com fought off a strong challenge from the home boats of OSG and Fainplast to win the first leg of the Mediterranean Grand Prix and go to the top of the Championship for the first time this season.Sony dominated P1 until their disqualification in Cowes two weeks ago, and their title ambitions suffered a further set back when a broken transmission forced it's withdrawal just as the race commenced. Momentum is clearly with the Austrian based Wettpunkt.com, led by the experienced throttleman Hannes Bohinc and British pair, driver Miles Jennings and navigator EdWilliams-Hawkes whose season had started slowly but has now been transformed with back-to-back victories with just three races remaining. The four point lead, albeit slender, sets up an exciting finale. Sony is working around the clock to be ready for tomorrows shorter race, starting at midday, and their appetite for points is matched by fellow Italians Fainplast, who were unfortunate to lose third place following disqualification for missing the final buoy. Jolly Drive were pushed hard by Maltese team Chaudron 1 as they won the SuperSport Class in a race of fluctuating fortunes. British Championship leaders Buzzi Bullet looked capable of matching the speed of the early pace setters until a broken engine mount forced it's withdrawal. Buzzi Bullet still lead the Championship but the lead, which earlier in the season had exceeded 20 points, is now cut to three over the Yanmar- powered Jolly Drive. Pietro Pellegrini Allufer finished in third place as Oba Oba Racing retired with engine problems having looked certain to be on the podium during the early stages. Powerboat P1 World Championship

Eventi e saloni specializzati animeranno l'edizione 2005, in programma a Bari dal 10 al 18 settembre

Cinque saloni specializzati (Agrilevante, Edil Levante Abitare, Salone dell'Arredamento, Motus, Business Centre) e due sezioni dedicate rispettivamente ai Beni di Consumo ed all'Artigianato estero, duemila espositori complessivi, su una superficie di 150mila metri quadri: questi i numeri della 69^ edizione della Fiera del Levante (10-18 settembre 2005), che si conferma così la più grande e importante manifestazione multisettore del Mediterraneo.
Proprio nella prospettiva dell'apertura del mercato unico del Mediterraneo nel 2010, la Fiera ospiterà dibattiti e convegni su temi legati all'agricoltura, al sistema bancario, all'internazionalizzazione, ai sistemi doganali, alle infrastrutture: tutte questioni che verranno affrontate con riferimento alla macroarea mediterranea. L'apertura, come di consueto, è affidata al Presidente del Consiglio, che la mattina del 10 settembre nel suo intervento inaugurale delineerà i principali obiettivi della politica economica del Governo per i mesi futuri.
I grandi eventi in Fiera si coniugano con l'esposizione. Ai saloni specializzati è affidato il compito di contribuire a promuovere le produzioni – soprattutto italiane - presso un pubblico che lo scorso anno ha sfiorato il milione di unità: di queste, quasi un terzo è costituito da operatori economici e buyer italiani ed esteri.
Agrilevante, Salone internazionale delle macchine e attrezzature per agricoltura, orticoltura, giardinaggio e zootecnia, è alla sua 36esima edizione. Un appuntamento ospitato su 25.000 metri quadri di esposizione, e animato da 400 marchi italiani e stranieri che propongono le tecnologie più innovative per la produzione agricola, la bioagricoltura, la logistica ed il magazzinaggio. Tra le novità di quest'anno l'attivazione di un Welcome Point, in prossimità di un ingresso dedicato della Fiera, riservato all'accoglienza degli operatori del settore.
Edil Levante Abitare ospita le soluzioni e le tecnologie che consentono di rendere più vivibile e confortevole la casa e il giardino. Il Salone si sviluppa su una superficie di 30 mila metri quadrati e vede la presenza di oltre 400 espositori. In vetrina la migliore produzione dell'industria dei materiali per l'edilizia abitativa: pavimenti, rivestimenti, infissi, scale per interni, arredi per il bagno, depuratori, impianti di condizionamento, arredamenti ed attrezzature per ville e giardini, piscine.
In un unico percorso di visita si colloca il Salone dell'Arredamento, che su oltre 25.000 metri quadri di esposizione (sette padiglioni) propone il meglio dell'Italian style ai compratori italiani e a quelli, sempre più numerosi, dei Paesi balcanici e mediterranei. Al più grande salone specializzato del centro-sud partecipano, infatti, le principali case produttrici di mobili e complementi d'arredo. Quest'anno l'Area Eventi della mostra ospiterà esposizioni e manifestazioni di grande richiamo, come quella ideata da Ecodialogando, riservata alla presentazione delle nuove tendenze dell'arredare secondo i dettami del Vastu, la scienza indiana dell'architettura che indica come realizzare una casa in armonia con i suoi abitanti e con l'ambiente circostante.
Novità anche da Motus (al quale sarà presente, per la realizzazione di alcuni servizi, anche SalentoMotori.it) , il Salone biennale dell'Automobile che quest'anno si sviluppa su un'area espositiva che comprenderà anche un esteso piazzale esterno. Un layout che consentirà di dare maggiore risalto alla presentazione di nuovi modelli di autovetture e di creare percorsi di visita di grande impatto visivo. Saranno presenti alcune tra le migliori case automobilistiche e sarà dato spazio anche ai rivenditori di accessori per auto, settore che conosce una decisa impennata nei consumi.
Il Business Centre, il Salone dei servizi reali per le imprese e per le famiglie, festeggia i venti anni di attività, presentando servizi bancari, finanziari, organismi e istituzioni al servizio degli operatori economici e del cittadino.
Confermate, come sempre le presenze espositive istituzionali, con stand e padiglioni di ministeri, enti territoriali, grandi gruppi industriali e del terziario, istituti bancari. Importanti le partecipazioni di aziende del mondo dell'informazione e delle telecomunicazioni: la Rai, innanzitutto, che torna in Fiera con un proprio padiglione, ma anche Telecom, Fastweb, Vodafone, la Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, il gruppo TeleNorba.
Completano l'offerta merceologica della manifestazione le sezioni espositive dedicate ai Beni di Consumo e alla Galleria delle Nazioni. La prima si conferma la più grande galleria commerciale d'Italia, con 5 km di stand di abbigliamento, pellicceria, pelletteria, artigianato tipico, gastronomia. La Galleria delle Nazioni è invece la più tradizionale ed esotica delle attrazioni della Fiera, in cui espositori di tutto il mondo propongono il proprio artigianato tipico, in un suggestivo ambiente multietnico.
Numerose anche quest'anno le partecipazioni ufficiali dei Paesi stranieri e le missioni di operatori in visita alla manifestazione. Le contrattazioni avvengono, come di consueto alla Borsa Affari, in cui confluiscono compratori dall'Africa, dai Balcani e dal Medio Oriente.

The ancient Southern Italian city of Gallipoli lies south of the baroque citadel of Lecce and is not to be confused with the area of the Dardanelle peninsula in Turkey that bears the same name and which witnessed one of the bloodiest battles of the First World War.
Located on the 'heel' of the 'boot' formed by the Italian coastline Gallipoli has a medieval centre on an island with its own natural harbour that is linked to the modern town by a long stone bridge.
Gallipoli is a city with ancient Greek origins that are reflected in its name, which is derived from 'kale polis' - the Greek words for lovely town. In its more than 2000 year history the city was also an important Roman municipum and a stronghold against invading Norman forces during the Byzantine period.
Historic and artistic treasures to be found in modern day Gallipoli include the beautiful baroque cathedral of Sant' Agata, the white church of the Purita and the Church of St Francis of Assisi.
The city is also notable for the narrow lanes and balconied houses of its historic centre, it's footpaths scented with juniper and myrtle winding through rocks to soft, sandy beaches and its turquoise sea.
In addition Gallipoli is a gastronomic delight, with numerous restaurants offering local specialities in particular fresh fish and other seafood, and has a vibrant nightlife.
When the Powerboat P1 World Championship comes to town in September competitors, officials and spectators alike will receive a warm welcome from the city known as the 'The Pearl of the Ionian Sea'.
